about me
My name is Audrey Poole. I grew up in the suburb of Germantown, TN. I then attended Mississippi State University and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. After completing my undergraduate degree, I moved to Birmingham, AL, where I worked for four years as an Interior Designer for a high-end residential Architecture and Design Firm. In 2013, I married my now husband, who was born and raised in Sumter County, AL. We built a house and have two children (Aiden, 6 and Avery, 5) and several pets. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, being outdoors, gardening, and being creative.
I currently work for the University of West Alabama in the College of Education Certification Office and am near completion of my Masters in Integrated Marketing Communications. I love my higher education job and wanted to further my education and pursue this master’s degree to one day teach courses at the University of West Alabama. I also do Interior Design work on the side, including picking finishes, CAD architectural drawings, kitchen and bathroom design, Cabinet Details, and much more. I love working in higher education, but I also enjoy using my creative talents on the side.
While at Mississippi State, I also completed a minor in art. I still enjoy watercolor painting and using other mediums and photography. Art has always been a passion since I was in elementary school and is what started my strong interest in design. I knew that one day I wanted to use my creativity somehow. I was accepted into the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University, but soon realized I was most interested in spatial and interior design. I love helping people create a vision for a space and implementing that vision through design.
Another area that I feel as though I thrive in is event planning. I am on the Sumter County Alumni Committee, and we host 1-2 events a year here at UWA. I help coordinate the catering, décor, silent auctions, entertainment, etc. I also volunteer to help with the Annual UWA Alumni Party every year, UWA Rodeo Camp and help out with Sumter County Chamber events. I am on the University Charter School PTA, where I am the Fall Festival Chairman. When our local school shut down, I created a new Fall Festival tradition that started with the UWA Campus School. The following year, it was combined with the University Charter School and is now a thriving community event that raises money for both UCS and Campus School. I thrive when it comes to helping people with events and helping bring a vision to life.
